NEPIP is a wonderful reflexology treatment protocol which may be particularly beneficial for anyone who is experiencing stress – and that sadly seems to be so many of us these days….
It is another part of the CAREA MATRIX and is therefore taught exclusively on the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine.
Our students really look forward to learning NEPIP – it comes near the end of their training with us as they will complete their final, most clinical set of case studies using this treatment protocol.
NEPIP stands for Neuroendopsychoimmunopody and it involves treating areas and systems of the feet which relate to parts of the body particularly impacted by stress in our lives.
Here’s what each aspect of the long name relates to….
Neuro = the nervous system – the brain, spinal cord and the many nerves running throughout our bodies
Endo = the endocrine system – a collection of glands which, together with the nervous system, regulate the hormone levels in our bodies
Psycho = our psychology, our mind and emotions – in this treatment, we work the area of the feet associated with the limbic system in the brain
Immuno = the immune system – this system can be hugely impacted by stressful events in our lives. I’m sure we can all think of a time when we have become unwell following a stressful event or period in our lives, for example!
Pody = feet!
NEPIP is a unique treatment protocol which may be helpful for clients when they are going through stressful phases in their lives. Key systems known to be involved in the stress response are focused upon, along with the emotional responses to stress, and the technique can be individualised further with evidence based treatment planning – all taught on our Level 5 reflexology training.
Such a wonderful tool to have in your reflexology toolbox – and only available to learn on the OTHM Level 5 reflexology diploma!
